16 The First Session 3 The First Session This chapter explains how to record and mix your first MD8 session. If this is your first time with a multitrack recorder, we recommend that you start with this chapter and follow all the procedures closely. When you've completed this chapter, have a look at subsequent chapters, which explain more advanced MD8 functions and require a basic knowledge of MD8 and multitrack recording techniques. Quick-Start System The following illustration shows a basic MD8 recording system. For monitoring, you can use either headphones or a monitor amp and speakers. Alternatively, you could use your hi-fi amp and speakers. The master recorder is only required for mixdown.
