This is recommended for everyday management of the ZyXEL Device using a (supported) web browser. See Chapter 2 on page 37. • Command Line Interface. Line commands are mostly used for troubleshooting by service engineers. See Appendix G on page 325. • SMT. System Management Terminal is a text-based configuration menu that you can use to configure your device. See Chapter 17 on page 163. • FTP. Use File Transfer Protocol for firmware upgrades and configuration backup/restore. See Chapter 11 on page 119. • SNMP. The device can be monitored and/or managed by an SNMP manager. See Chapter 11 on page 119. 1.3 Good Habits for Managing the ZyXEL Device Do the following things regularly to make the ZyXEL Device more secure and to manage the ZyXEL Device more effectively. • Change the password.
