Prestige 861H Series User's Guide IP Policy Routing (IPPR) Traditionally, routing is based on the destination address only and the router takes the shortest path to forward a packet. IP Policy Routing (IPPR) provides a mechanism to override the default routing behavior and alter the packet forwarding based on the policy defined by the network administrator. Multiple PVC (Permanent Virtual Circuits) Support Your Prestige supports up to 10 PVCs including UBR, CBR and VBR. Multiplexing The Prestige supports LLC-based multiplexing only. Networking Compatibility Your Prestige is compatible with the major VDSL DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) providers, making configuration as simple as possible for you. Packet Filters The Prestige's packet filtering functions allows added network security and management. Housing Your Prestige's compact and ventilated housing minimizes space requirements making it easy to position anywhere in your busy office. 1.1.2 Applications for the Prestige Here are some example uses for which the Prestige is well suited. 1.1.2.1 Home Gateway Applications Some applications for your Prestige are explained below. Other applications include Video, Voice over IP (VoIP), Internet Group Multicast Protocol (IGMP) and Data, see sections on Internet Access, Internet Single User Account and LAN to LAN Application. Middleware This is software that provides a way for two systems to exchange information or connect with one another even though they have different interfaces.
