During pseudo-ringing, if you pick up the handset of the external telephone, the line might be disconnected due to cut-off of the line current. To hold the line, the equipment may supply line current by making use of the pulse generator circuit that forms a parallel loop. This way the FAX line disconnection may be delayed.
