8: 6 Shooting Night Portraits (With a Tripod) When you want to photograph people at night and obtain a naturallooking night scene in the background, use the (Night Portrait) mode. Note that an external Speedlite is required for shooting. Using a tripod is recommended. Shooting Tips Use a wide-angle lens and a tripod. When using a zoom lens, use the wide-angle end to obtain a wide night view. Also, since camera shake is prone to occur with handheld shooting, use a tripod. Check the subject's brightness. Note that it is recommended to play back the captured image on location to check the image brightness. If the subject looks dark, move nearer and shoot again. Also shoot in other shooting modes.
