8 Host Configuration for HP-UX This chapter contains the following topics: Topics: • Related E-Lab Host Connectivity Guide • Recommended Configuration Values Summary • Boot from SAN • Fibre Channel Configuration • HP-UX Host Parameter Settings • Multipathing Software Configuration • Post-Configuration Steps - Using the PowerStore System Related E-Lab Host Connectivity Guide The topics in this chapter detail specific caveats and configuration parameters that must be present when configuring an HP-UX host to access a PowerStore storage. These caveats and parameters should be applied with the configuration steps that are detailed on the E-Lab Host Connectivity Guide for HP-UX (see the E-Lab Interoperability Navigator at https:// elabnavigator.dell.com). Recommended Configuration Values Summary The following table summarizes all used variables and their values when configuring hosts for HP-UX NOTE: Unless indicated otherwise, use the default parameters values. NOTE: If a volume that was already discovered and configured by a host is presented to that host, then a subsequent change to the escsi_maxphys parameter does not take effect until a host reboot. Volumes attached after the parameter change inherit the parameter change automatically and require no further host reboot. Validation To clarify the above note for using default parameter settings (unless stated otherwise in this chapter), ensure that the following are set per the default operating system setting: ● LUN and HBA queue depth ● HBA timeout Specify HP-UX as the operating system for each defined host. Maximum transfer length: Change escsi_maxphys value to 1MB (256 increments of 4KB). Impact Stability & Performance Serviceability Performance Severity Recommended Mandatory Mandatory See Section For further details, see operating system and HBA documentation. Post-Configuration Steps - Using the PowerStore System
Related E-Lab Host Connectivity Guide
The topics in this chapter detail specific caveats and configuration parameters that must be present when configuring an
HP-UX host to access a PowerStore storage. These caveats and parameters should be applied with the configuration steps
that are detailed on the
E-Lab Host Connectivity Guide for HP-UX
(see the E-Lab Interoperability Navigator at

).
Recommended Configuration Values Summary
The following table summarizes all used variables and their values when configuring hosts for HP-UX
NOTE:
Unless indicated otherwise, use the default parameters values.
NOTE:
If a volume that was already discovered and configured by a host is presented to that host, then a subsequent
change to the
escsi_maxphys
parameter does not take effect until a host reboot. Volumes attached after the parameter
change inherit the parameter change automatically and require no further host reboot.
