Align the Print Head, Clean the Paper Path

Align the Print Head If your printouts become grainy or blurry, or you see dark or light bands across them, you may need to align the print head. Note: Banding may also occur if your print head nozzles need cleaning. 1. Load a few sheets of plain paper in the sheet feeder. 2. Windows: Right-click the printer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (the taskbar) and select Print Head Alignment. Macintosh: Open the Applications folder, open the EPSON Printer Utility 2, select Stylus CX5600, and click OK. Then select Print Head Alignment. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to print an alignment sheet. Note: Do not press the button to cancel printing of the alignment sheet. 4. Check the alignment pattern that prints and compare it to the alignment criteria on your screen. 5. Enter the number of the best pattern and click Next. Note: If no patterns are aligned, choose the closest one and click Realignment. Then print another alignment sheet and check it. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to print and compare each alignment sheet, or click Skip. Clean the Paper Path If you see ink on the back of a printout, you can clean the paper path to clean out any excess ink. 1. Load a few sheets of plain paper in the sheet feeder. 2. Windows: Right-click the printer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (the taskbar), select Printer Settings, then select Paper Guide Cleaning in the Maintenance tab. 72

in the sheet feeder.

Windows
: Right-click the
printer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (the
taskbar) and select
Print Head Alignment
.
Macintosh
: Open the
Applications
folder, open the
EPSON Printer Utility 2,
select
Stylus
CX5600
, and click
OK
. Then select
Print Head Alignment
.
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions to print an alignment sheet.
Note:
Do not press the
button to cancel printing of the alignment sheet.

Check the alignment pattern that prints and compare it to the alignment criteria on your
screen.

Enter the number of the best pattern and click
Next
.

If no patterns are aligned, choose the closest one and click

Clean the Paper Path
If you see ink on the back of a printout, you can clean the paper path to clean out any excess ink.
