Getting Started 27 Note If you have set a password for your phone, you will be prompted for the password before you can view the information. See "Protecting your phone with a password" in Chapter 14 for information on setting a password. Receiving a call when the phone is locked You can receive and answer calls even when your phone is locked. For more information about answering calls, see "Answering and Ending Calls" in Chapter 2. 1.11 Adjusting the Volume You can adjust the Sytem volume (notifications and audio/video playback volume) and the phone Ring volume separately, or set a single volume control that simultaneously adjusts both the system and ring volumes. To adjust the system and ring volumes separately 1. Press the VOLUME UP/DOWN button. 2. To switch between the System Volume and Ring Volume screens, touch System or Ring at the top of the screen. 3. To increase or decrease the volume level, drag your finger up or down the volume bars, or press the VOLUME UP/DOWN button. You can also: • Touch Silent to mute the volume. • Touch Vibrate to switch the device to Vibrate mode. 4. The Volume screen automatically closes. You can also tap an empty area of the Volume screen to close it. To set a single volume 1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab, and then touch Sound. 2. Turn on the Single Volume option. 3. Press the VOLUME UP/DOWN button on the left panel of your device to open the Volume screen. 4. To adjust the volume level, follow steps 3 to 4 in "To set a single volume". You can receive and answer calls even when your phone is locked. For more information about answering calls,

1.11 Adjusting the Volume
You can adjust the Sytem volume (notifications and audio/video playback volume) and the phone Ring volume
separately, or set a single volume control that simultaneously adjusts both the system and ring volumes.
To adjust the system and ring volumes separately
Press the VOLUME UP/DOWN button.
To switch between the System Volume and Ring Volume screens, touch System or Ring at the top of the
screen.
To increase or decrease the volume level, drag your finger up or down the volume bars, or press the
VOLUME UP/DOWN button. You can also:
Touch
