Launching the DCFM client Clear the previous version from the Java cache by executing the procedure "Clearing previous versions of the remote client" described in the user manual. As noted above, the remote client link in the Start menu does not automatically upgrade when you apply the DCFM 10.4.5a patch. However, when you open the DCFM remote client, the patch version is displayed in the About DCFM dialog box. DCFM Professional client To launch the DCFM client: • For Windows and Linux: Double-click the DCFM client shortcut icon on the desktop. • For Windows: Select Start > Programs > DCFM 10.4.5 > DCFM 10.4.5. NOTE: For DCFM Professional, the client must run on the same local machine as the DCFM Professional server. DCFM Professional Plus or DCFM Enterprise client To launch the DCFM Professional Plus or DCFM Enterprise client on the same local machine as the DCFM server: • For Windows: Select Start > Programs > DCFM 10.4.5 > DCFM 10.4.5 • For Linux: The procedure is the same as for launching from a remote host. See the following pro- cedure. To launch the DCFM Professional Plus or DCFM Enterprise client from a remote host: nl Open a browser window and enter the DCFM server host name or IP address in the Address box. nl For example: nl http://DCFMserverhost1.companyname.com/ http://192.x.y.z/ If you specified a DCFM web server port number (other than the default 80) when installing the DCFM server, you must specify the port number after the host name or IP address. In the following examples, 8080 is the web server port number: nl http:// DCFMserverhost1.companyname.com:8080/ nl http://192.x.y.z:8080/ Installation notes • If you are upgrading from DCFM Professional or Enterprise trial versions, see the procedure in the DCFM Migration and Transition Guide. • Ensure that the network environment does not have any firewall protection between the client, server, and switches. If there is a firewall, ensure that rules are set up to enable access. For more information, see the DCFM Administrator's Guide. • You must select the SAN size during installation of DCFM 10.4.5a. For more information, see the DCFM Administrator's Guide. • If you install DCFM server on a Windows host that has antivirus software, you must disable the antivirus software during the installation. • Install DCFM server on a dedicated machine that is not running any other server applications. To launch the DCFM Professional Plus or DCFM Enterprise client from a remote host:
