Troubleshooting Help Zone CD-ROM or DVD Drive Door Doesn't Open Checklist 1 If you have difficulty removing a disc from the CD-ROM or DVD drive (during a power failure for example), you can use the manual eject button. For example, to eject a CD-ROM using the manual eject button: • With a thin, solid rod, such as the end of a paper clip, push the CD-ROM drive's manual eject button 2 The CD-ROM drive door will be released, opening slightly. Carefully pull it open fully and retrieve the CD. 3 To close the CD-ROM drive door, push it gently closed without forcing it. The CD-ROM drive door may not close completely until it is fully functional (for example, when the power comes back on). Modem Doesn't Work Checklist Are you running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0? The USB modem will not work with these operating systems. For more information on using and troubleshooting the USB modem, refer to "Easy Access to Information with the Brio Center" on page 10. After a power shortage, your HP Brio PC may not be able to retrieve its original configuration (network connections, fax reception, etc). Contact your HP authorized reseller for information on suitable UPS units. 38

Protecting Your PC from Power Shortages
If you plan to use your PC in a permanent way — to receive faxes, for example — you
should really consider adding an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit to your HP
Brio PC, so that it is protected against power shortages. After a power shortage, your
HP Brio PC may not be able to retrieve its original configuration (network
connections, fax reception, etc). Contact your HP authorized reseller for information
on suitable UPS units.
