Fan Description Fan (includes cable) Spare part number 730547-001 Before removing the fan, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the service cover (see Service cover on page 37), and then remove the following components: a. Battery (see Battery on page 39) b. Hard drive (see Hard drive/solid-state drive on page 41) c. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 50) d. Top cover (see Top cover on page 57) e. Heat sink (see Heat sink on page 72) Remove the fan: 1. Turn the top cover upside down with the front toward you. 2. Disconnect the fan cable (1) from the system board. 3. Loosen the two Phillips captive screws (2) that secure the fan to the system board. 4. Before removing the fan, follow these steps:
1.
Turn
off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the service cover (see

on page

), and then remove the following components:
a.

b.
Hard drive (see

c.
Keyboard (see

d.
Top cover (see

Remove the fan:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down with the front toward you.
2.
Disconnect the fan cable
(1)
from the system board.
3.
Loosen the two Phillips captive screws
(2)
that secure the fan to the system board.
