Software Overview This section describes the HP EFC Management Services and HP EFC Manager applications. The HP EFC Manager application includes the Product Manager and Fabric Manager applications. These applications provide a graphical user interface (GUI) and management services for monitoring and controlling directors. HP EFC Management Services Application The HP EFC Management Services application runs on the HP EFC Server and provides management services to the HP EFC Manager, Product Manager, and Fabric Manager applications, and implements Web and other server functions. The HP EFC Server is dedicated to the HP EFC Manager and associated applications, and should not be used for other tasks. Loading additional applications or use of the server for other purposes may impact HP EFC Server performance. The HP EFC Management Services application provides the following services to the HP EFC Manager, Product Manager, and Fabric Manager applications: • Session management for one or more HP EFC Server network connections. • Centralized database repository for configuration files, system logs, firmware upgrades, and other entities. • Remote support and fault isolation services. • Establishing and maintaining network connections to managed products, such as the HP Surestore Director FC-64. • Product configuration management. • Event and audit logging. • Alert processing and user notification. • Initiation of the call-home procedure. • Network management and file transfer protocol (FTP) processing. 36 Software Overview
