The head number of the transferred sector. L=0

Page 129 highlights

H The head number of the sector to be transferred. ( L = 0 ) In LBA mode, this register contains LBA bits 24-27. ( L = 1 ) R The retry bit. If set to one, then retries are disabled. Input Parameters From The Device Sector Count The number of requested sectors not transferred. Sector Number The sector number of the transferred sector. ( L = 0 ) In LBA mode, this register contains current LBA bits 0 - 7. ( L = 1 ) Cylinder High/Low The cylinder number of the transferred sector. ( L = 0 ) In LBA mode, this register contains current LBA bits 8 - 15 (Low), 16 - 23 (High). (L=1) H The head number of the transferred sector. ( L = 0 ) In LBA mode, this register contains current LBA bits 24-27. ( L = 1 ) It should be noted that the device internally uses 34 bytes of ECC data on all data written or read from the disk. The 4 byte mode of operation is provided via an emulation. It is recommended that for testing the effectiveness and integrity of the devices ECC functions that the 34 byte ECC mode should be used.
