Appendix 11 11.3 Internet fax index The terms that are generally used for internet fax communication are explained. Terms DSN Internet Fax MDN POP3 SMTP Description DSN = Abbreviation of Delivery Status Notifications. The delivery notification message of sent message is shown on the sender machine when the mail server of the recipient gets E-mail. A communication mode to transmit and receive the scanned original via intranet and internet between internet fax and computer as E-mail attached files (TIFF format). MDN = Abbreviation of Message Disposition Notifications. Open confirmation message is sent when there is a request for confirming whether the sender's machine is ON. Abbreviation of Post Office Protocol - Version 3. A communication protocol (scheduled communication) generally used for transmission and reception of E-mail. There are functions like Mail box authentication, E-mail downloading, List information confirmation and Email deletion. Abbreviation of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
