4. Position the new memory module over the memory slot. Make sure that the notch 1 on the memory module aligns correctly with the slot key 2 on the system board. Push the memory module straight down into the slot until the retaining clips close. 5. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement" on page 95. Installing or replacing an adapter card Attention Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Important safety information" in the ThinkCentre Safety and Warranty Guide that came with your computer. Your computer has one PCI Express x1 adapter card slot, one PCI Express x16 adapter card slot, and two PCI adapter card slots. See "System board connectors" on page 68. To install or replace an adapter card: 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 69. 2. At the rear of the computer, press the release button 1 to open the adapter latch 2 . If you are installing an adapter card, remove the appropriate slot cover.
