Understanding the operator panel Menu item Parallel Buffer Purpose Values To configure the size of the parallel Disabled input buffer. Note: Changing this menu item automatically resets the printer. Auto* 3K to maximum size allowed Parallel Mode 2 To determine whether the parallel On* port data is sampled on the leading or trailing edge of strobe. Off PCL To configure the printer so it On* SmartSwitch automatically switches to PCL emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. Off PS To configure the printer so it On* SmartSwitch automatically switches to PostScript emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. Off Disables job buffering. Any jobs already buffered on the disk are printed before normal processing of incoming jobs resumes. Printer automatically calculates the Parallel Buffer size (recommended setting). User specifies the Parallel Buffer size. The maximum size depends on the amount of memory in your printer, the size of the other link buffers, and whether Resource Save is set to On or Off. To maximize the range for the Parallel Buffer size, disable or reduce the size of the serial, and USB buffers. Samples parallel port data on the leading edge of strobe. Samples parallel port data on the trailing edge of strobe. Printer examines data on the parallel interface and selects PCL emulation if the data indicates that is the required printer language. Printer does not examine the incoming data.
