If the surfaceburnerdoes not light,check if ignitoris broken,soiledor wet. BURNER CAP The size and type of cookwarewill affect the heat setting. Settings Uses HI Use HI to bring liquid to a boil,or reach pressurein a pressure cooker.Alwaysreducesettingto a lowerheatwhenliquidsbegin to boil or foods begin to cook. An intermediateflame size is usedto continue cooking.Food will not cook any fasterwhen a higherflame settingis used than neededto maintaina gentle boil.Water boils at the same temperaturewhether boilinggently or vigorously. LO Use LO to simmerfoods, keepfoods warm and melt chocolateor butter. Somecookingmay take placeon the LO settingif the pan is covered.It is possibleto reducethe heat by rotatingthe knob toward OFF.Be sure flame is stable. BURNER BASE
