Setting Up Your Phone Storing Your Name and Phone Number To store or edit your name and phone number information on your SIM card: Find the Feature M > 6HWWLQJV > 3KRQH 6WDWXV > 0\ 7HO 1XPEHUV Shortcut: Press M# from the home screen to view or edit your name and phone number. If you do not know your phone number, contact your service provider. Setting the Time and Date Your phone uses the time and date for the 'DWHERRN. Find the Feature M > 6HWWLQJV > ,QLWLDO 6HWXS > 7LPH DQG 'DWH Setting a Ring Style Your phone rings or vibrates to notify you of an incoming call or other event. This ring or vibration is called an alert. You can select one of five different ring styles. The ring style indicator in the display shows the current ring style (see page42). To set a ring style: Find the Feature M > 5LQJ 6W\OHV > 6W\OH 60 - Setting Up Your Phone Setting a Screen Saver Image You can set a photo, picture, or animation as a screen saver image. The screen saver image displays when the phone is on and no activity is detected for a specified time period. The image shrinks to fill the display, if necessary. An animation repeats for one minute, then the first frame of the animation displays. Tip: Turn off the screen saver to extend battery life. To change these settings, press M > 5LQJ 6W\OHV > style 'HWDLO. • If you select the 6LOHQW ring style, your phone will not use $XWR $QVZHU (see page 89). • Java™ applications can make your phone vibrate or light up. You can turn off $SS 9LEUDWLRQ and $SS %DFNOLJKW under M > 6HWWLQJV > -DYD 6HWWLQJV. • To turn off alerts for messages that arrive during a call, select M > 6HWWLQJV > ,Q&DOO 6HWXS > 0VJ $OHUW > 1RW LQ &DOO. Setting a Wallpaper Image You can set a photo, picture, or animation as a wallpaper (background) image in your phone's home screen. The wallpaper image displays as a faint watermark in text and menu displays. Note: When you set an animation as a wallpaper image, only the first frame of the animation displays. Caution: The &RQWLQXRXV setting can decrease battery life. Limitations of AGPS Sometimes adequate signals from multiple satellites are unavailable, usually because your AGPS phone's antenna cannot establish a view of a wide area of open sky. In these cases, the AGPS feature will not work. Such situations include, but are not limited to, the following: • in underground locations • inside of buildings, trains, or other covered vehicles • under any other metal or concrete roof or structure • between tall buildings or under dense tree cover Setting Up Your Phone - 63
