Using Exposure Compensation With the mode dial set to P (Program mode), A (Aperture priority mode), or S (Shutter priority mode), you can press the exposure compensation button to manually increase or decrease the exposure automatically selected by the camera in order to create a darker or brighter image. For example, if you want to shoot a white subject and make it bright, you can also use exposure compensation to capture the image just as it appears. Exposure compensation can be adjusted in the range of ±3EV in 1/3EV steps. Plus exposure compensation OFF ON 1 Minus exposure 2 compensation 1 Set the mode dial to P, A, or S.
