7 CHAPTER 7 Settings, preferences, upgrades, and extras Selecting an Input Signal You can use to view a signal from an external source, such as a VCR. 1 Press the MENU button on your remote control. 2 Highlight the Setup menu item, then press the SELECT button. 3 Highlight the Preferences menu item, then press the SELECT button. 4 Highlight the Input Source menu item, then press the SELECT button. The Input Source menu appears. The Input Source menu item is highlighted. 5 Press the SELECT button on your remote control to display the list of available Input sources. A list of input source appears. 6 Highlight the input source you wish to use, then press the SELECT button. A list appears from which you can choose Satellite/Antenna Component, S-Video, or Video. When you select an input source, the list disappears. Your selection is indicated in the Input Source line on the Input Source menu. For easy selection, press TV/VIDEO button on the Remote Control unit. 7 CHAPTER 7 Settings, preferences, upgrades, and extras Setting the Default Language preference Programs broadcast with digital audio often provide a number of language choices. This preference setting tells your DIRECTV® HD Receiver which language to use for digital audio broadcasts offering a choice of formats. To set the Default Language preference, follow these steps: 1 Press the MENU button on your remote control. 2 Highlight the Setup menu item, then press the SELECT button. 3 Highlight the Preferences menu item, then press the SELECT button. 4 Highlight the Audio menu item, then press the SELECT button. The Audio menu appears. The Default Language menu item is highlighted. 5 Press the SELECT button on your remote control to display the list of available languages. A list of languages appears. 6 Highlight the language you wish to use for digital audio broadcasts, then press the SELECT button. When you select a language, the language list disappears. Your selection is indicated in the Default Language line on the Audio menu. 92 93
