SPECIAL FEATURES AUTO DEFROST AutoDefrost automatically defrosts all the foods found in the AutoDefrost Chart below. • Suppose you want to defrost a 2.0 pound steak. PROCEDURE DISPLAY 1 Touch Auto Defrost pad once. SELECT FOOD SEE LABEL NUMBER 2 2 Touch number 2 pad to select steak. STEAK CHOPS ENTER OR FISH 3 20 PRESS 2.0 START Enter weight by touching the number pads 2 and 0. (Ex: 2.0 lb steak.) 4 START TOUCH ON Touch Start/Touch On pad. The oven will stop and directions will be displayed. Follow the indicated message. 5 After the 1st stage, open the door. Turn steak over and shield any warm portions. Close the door. START Touch Start/ Touch On pad. TOUCH ON 6 After the 2nd stage, open the door. Shield any warm portions. Close the door. Touch Start/ Touch On pad. START TOUCH ON 7 After defrost cycle ends, follow the directions. NOTE: 1. To defrost other food or foods above or below the weights allowed on the AutoDefrost Chart, use time and 30% power. See Manual Defrost on page 21 2. AutoDefrost can be programmed with More or Less Time Adjustment. Touch the Power Level pad once or twice after entering the weight or quantity. See page 21. 3. Touch Custom Help when the HELP indicator is lighted in the display for a helpful hint. 4. If you attempt to enter more or less than the amount as indicated in the chart below, an error message will appear in the display. AUTO DEFROST CHART FOOD 1. Ground meat 2. Steaks, chops fish AMOUNT .5 - 3.0 lb .5 - 4.0 lb 3. Chicken pieces .5 - 3.0 lb 4. Roast 2.0 - 4.0 lb PROCEDURE Remove any thawed pieces after each stage. Let stand, covered, for 5 to 10 minutes. After each stage, rearrange and if there are warm or thawed portions, shield with small flat pieces of aluminum foil. Remove any meat or fish that is almost defrosted. Let stand, covered, for 10 to 20 minutes. After each stage, rearrange pieces or remove portions should they become warm or thawed. Let stand, covered, for 10 to 20 minutes. Start defrosting with fat side down. After each stage, turn roast over and shield the warm portions with aluminum foil. Let stand, covered, for 30 to 60 minutes. 5. Casserole 2 - 6 cups After audible signal, stir if possible. At end, stir well and let stand, covered, for 5 to 10 minutes. NOTE: Check foods when oven signals. After final stage, small sections may still be icy. Let stand to continue thawing. Do not defrost until all ice crystals are thawed. Shielding prevents cooking from occurring before the center of the food is defrosted. Use small smooth strips of aluminum foil to cover edges and thinner sections of the food. 16
