Playing back a tape To display the screen indicators - Display function Press DISPLAY on your camcorder or the Remote Commander supplied with your camcorder. The indicators appear on the LCD screen. To make the indicators disappear, press DISPLAY again. DISPLAY Playback - Basics Using the data code function Your camcorder automatically records not only images on the tape but also the recording data (date/time or various settings when recorded) (Data code). Use the Remote Commander for this operation. Press DATA CODE on the Remote Commander in the playback mode. When you use the data code function, bars (-- -- --) appear if: - A blank portion of the tape is being played back. - The tape is unreadable due to tape damage or noise. - The tape was recorded by a camcorder without the date and time set. Playback – Basics
Using the data code function
Your camcorder automatically records not only images on the tape but also the
recording data (date/time or various settings when recorded)

Recording data
Recording data is your camcorder’s information when you have recorded. In the
recording mode, the recording data will not be displayed.
