Selecting the focus area (AF area) Select the desired AF area to suit the shooting conditions or your preference. The AF area where the focus has been confirmed turns green and the other AF areas disappear. AF area Fn button t (AF area) t Select the desired setting (Wide) (Spot) (Local) The camera determines which of the 15 AF areas is used in focusing. The camera uses the AF area located in the center area exclusively. Choose the area for which you want to activate the focus from among 15 AF areas with the control button. Press the AF button to display the setup screen and select the desired area. Notes • When the exposure mode is set to AUTO, AUTO+, Sweep Panorama or Scene Selection, or the Smile Shutter is activated, [AF area] is fixed to [Wide] and you cannot select the other settings. • The AF area may not be illuminated during continuous shooting or when the shutter button is pressed all the way down without pause.
