BIOS Setup PNP/PCI Configurations This section describes the BIOS configuration of the PCI bus system. This section covers some very technical items and it is strongly recommended that only experienced users should make any changes to the default settings. PNP OS Installed When set to Yes, BIOS will only initialize the PnP cards used for booting (VGA, IDE, SCSI). Other cards will be initialized by the PnP operating system like Windows® 95 or 98/98SE. When set to No, BIOS will initialize all the PnP cards. Set to Yes the operating system is Plug & Play capable. The settings: No and Yes. Reset Configuration Data Normally, you leave this field Disabled. Select Enabled to reset Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD) when you exit Setup if you have installed a new add-on and the system reconfiguration has caused such a serious conflict that the operating system can not boot. The settings: Enabled and Disabled. Resource Controlled By The BIOS can automatically configure all the boot and Plug and Play compatible devices. Choose "Auto(ESCD)" if unsure, the BIOS will automatically assign IRQ, DMA and memory base address fields. The settings: Auto (ESCD) and Manual. 3-21
