The Function Mode F4 CLP-840/820/820S Left Pedal Mode This function sets the left pedal for normal soft-pedal operation, for song start/stop operation, or for sostenuto (CLP-820S only) operation. Use the [-/NO] and [+/YES] buttons to select the desired left-pedal mode. "1" is the normal soft-pedal mode, "2" is the start/stop mode, and "3" is the sostenuto mode (CLP-820S only). When the start/stop mode is selected, the left pedal functions in the same way as the panel [START/STOP] button. Press the [-/NO] and [+/YES] buttons simultaneously to recall the default setting "1". There are two modes for pedal operation. 1: Switch 2: Continuous In this mode the pedal acts as a simple on/off switch for sustain. In this mode the pedal continuously changes the amount of sustain (in eightstep gradations) i.e., the further down you press the pedal the longer the sound sustains. Use the [-/NO] and [+/YES] buttons to select the desired damper mode. Press the [-/NO] and [+/YES] buttons simultaneously to recall the default setting "2". F5.3: Soundboard Depth ...Certain piano voices (GRAND PIANO, CLASSICAL PIANO, and JAZZ PIANO) feature a special effect which recreates the ring of the strings and the soundboard resonance of an actual acoustic piano when the damper pedal is pressed. This function lets you adjust the depth of this effect. Use the [-/NO] and [+/YES] buttons to set the effect depth as required. The effect depth range is from 0 through 20. A setting of "0" produces no effect, while a setting of "20" produces maximum effect depth. This function lets you set how the damper pedal affects the sustain sound. There are two
modes for pedal operation.
1: Switch
In this mode the pedal acts as a simple on/off switch for sustain.
2: Continuous

step gradations) i.e., the further down you press the pedal the longer the sound
sustains.
