Driving and Operating 9-33 { Warning Cruise control can be dangerous where you cannot drive safely at a steady speed. Do not use the cruise control on winding roads or in heavy traffic. Cruise control can be dangerous on slippery roads. On such roads, fast changes in tire traction can cause excessive wheel slip, and you could lose control. Do not use cruise control on slippery roads. SET/− (Set/Coast): Move the thumbwheel down briefly to set the speed and activate cruise control. If cruise control is already active, use to decrease speed. Setting Cruise Control If the cruise button is on when not in use, it could get bumped and go into cruise when not desired. Keep the cruise button turned off when cruise control is not being used. Press to turn the cruise control system on and off. A white cruise control indicator appears in the instrument cluster. 1 (On/Off): To set a speed: 1. Press 1. 2. Get to the speed desired. 3. Move the thumbwheel down toward SET/− and release it. The cruise control indicator turns green. 4. Remove foot from the accelerator. * (Cancel): Press to disengage cruise control without erasing the set speed from memory. RES/+ (Resume/Accel): Move the thumbwheel up briefly to make the vehicle resume to a previously set speed or hold upwards to accelerate. If cruise control is already active, use to increase vehicle speed.
