Controls in detail Locking and unlocking i If the vehicle has previously been locked with the SmartKey or KEYLESS-GO*, opening a door from the inside will trigger the anti-theft alarm system. To cancel the alarm, do one of the following: Insert the SmartKey in the starter switch. Press button Œ or ‹ on the SmartKey. In vehicles with KEYLESS-GO*: Grasp an outside door handle. The SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO must be within 3 ft. (1 m) of the vehicle. Press the KEYLESS-GO* start/stop button ( page 35). The SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO must be inside the vehicle. Opening the trunk Opening the trunk from the outside A minimum height clearance of 6.3 ft (1.90 m) is required to open the trunk lid. The trunk lock button is located in the rear license plate recess. ! The trunk lid swings open upwards automatically. Always make sure that there is sufficient overhead clearance. Vehicles with trunk opening/closing system*: To stop the opening procedure, press button Š on the SmartKey or SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO*. i The trunk can also be opened using button Š on the SmartKey or SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO* or from its inside in an emergency, see "Trunk emergency release" ( page 109). 1 Trunk lock In vehicles without KEYLESS-GO*: The vehicle must be unlocked.
