MAINTENANCE Fast Idle Lever Check Fast Idle Lever and Cable 1. Move the fast idle lever. It should move smoothly from its rest position to its completely open position and back again. 2. Fast idle lever freeplay (A) is the amount of lever movement from the rest position to the point of cable resistance. Freeplay should be 1/8-1/4 inch (3-6 mm). 3. Remove the breather hose (B) from air box. Loosen the two fast idle cable adjuster lock nuts (C). Change position of the lock nuts on the cable until the fast idle lever freeplay is correct. Tighten lock nuts securely. Fast Idle Cable Freeplay: 1/8-1/4 inch (3-6 mm) 6. Tighten the adjuster lock nut securely. 7. Install the fuel tank and operator's seat. 104 B C

Fast Idle Lever
Check Fast Idle Lever and Cable
1.
Move the fast idle lever. It should move smoothly from its
rest position to its completely open position and back
again.
2.
Fast idle lever freeplay (A) is the amount of lever
movement from the rest position to the point of cable
resistance. Freeplay should be 1/8-1/4 inch (3-6 mm).
3.
Adjust fast idle lever freeplay if necessary.
Adjust Fast Idle Lever Freeplay
1.
Remove the operator’s seat (page 124).
2.
Remove the fuel tank (page 102).
3.
Remove the breather hose (B) from air box.
4.
Loosen the two fast idle cable adjuster lock nuts (C).
5.
Change position of the lock nuts on the cable until the fast
idle lever freeplay is correct. Tighten lock nuts securely.
Fast Idle Cable Freeplay: 1/8-1/4 inch (3-6 mm)
6.
Tighten the adjuster lock nut securely.
7.
Install the fuel tank and operator’s seat.
