MAINTENANCE Check or Replace Spark Plugs 4. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head with a 5/8 inch spark plug socket. Both spark plugs should have the same light or medium tan color deposits on the insulator around the electrode tip. The spark plug electrode tip and bridge should have sharp, square edges. If spark plugs are in good condition and are not due for replacement, you can clean them with a non-metallic stiff bristle brush, set the gap and reinstall them. Replace spark plugs (CPR6EA-9 or equivalent) at the recommended intervals. Always replace spark plugs in pairs. 5. Set the electrode gap with a spark plug gauge. Gap: 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) 6. Clean the mating surface on the cylinder head and install the spark plug with a spark plug socket. Torque: 8 ft-lbs (11 Nm) 7. Reconnect both spark plug wires. 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) NGK CPR6EA-9 122
