Starting the Engine 6. Squeeze the left brake lever. NOTE: OPERATION The starter will not engage unless the rear brake is applied. Always squeeze and hold the left brake lever before attempting to start the engine. 7. Press the start button. 8. Activate the starter for a maximum of five seconds, releasing the button when the engine starts. If it doesn't start, release the starter, wait five seconds, then activate for another five seconds. Repeat until the engine starts. 9. If the engine slows or stops, position the choke lever half way to allow proper engine warm up. Vary the RPM slightly with the throttle to aid in warm up. 10. When the engine idles smoothly, push the choke lever all the way to the right. CAUTION Operating the vehicle immediately after starting could cause engine damage. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes before operating the vehicle. 49
