4 If a firmware update is available, download the update files to the computer on which you installed the 3Com TFTP Server. 5 Copy the upgrade files to the Upload/Download Directory you specified in step 3 of "Setting Up the 3Com TFTP Server". Performing Firmware Upgrade After you copy the upgrade files to the upload/download directory of the computer where the 3Com TFTP Server is installed, you are ready to perform the firmware upgrade. Before continuing, take note of the IP address of the computer on which the 3Com TFTP Server is installed and the file name of the .HEX file. You will need this information to point the Switch to the 3Com TFTP Server and to the correct upgrade file. To perform the firmware upgrade: 1 Start the 3Com TFTP Server. For the Switch to fetch the upgrade files successfully, this program needs to be running. 2 On the same computer, access and log on to the Web interface. 3 On the menu, click Upgrade. The System Upgrade screen appears. 4 Take note of the version number in Current Firmware Version. You will need this information to verify that the upgrade was successfully completed. 5 In TFTP Server IP, type the IP address of the 3Com TFTP Server. Performing Firmware Upgrade 49 6 In Filename, type the full file name of the upgrade file (including the .HEX extension). 7 Click Apply. The Switch connects to the 3Com TFTP Server, and then downloads and installs the upgrade files. To view progress of the upgrade, check the 3Com TFTP Server interface. The Status column shows the message, "Connection resumed at..." CAUTION: DO NOT interrupt the firmware upgrade process once it has started. Performing Firmware Upgrade
After you copy the upgrade files to the upload/down-
load directory of the computer where the 3Com TFTP
Server is installed, you are ready to perform the firm-
ware upgrade.
Before continuing, take note of the IP address of the
computer on which the 3Com TFTP Server is installed
and the file name of the
.HEX
file. You will need this
information to point the Switch to the 3Com TFTP
Server and to the correct upgrade file.
To perform the firmware upgrade:

Start the 3Com TFTP Server. For the Switch to fetch
the upgrade files successfully, this program needs to
be running.

On the same computer, access and log on to the Web
interface.

On the menu, click
Upgrade
. The System Upgrade
screen appears.

Take note of the version number in Current Firmware
Version. You will need this information to verify that
the upgrade was successfully completed.

TFTP Server IP
, type the IP address of the 3Com
TFTP Server.
