8 www.aeg.com 5.2 Activating and deactivating the appliance It depends on the model if your appliance has lamps, knob symbols or indicators: • The lamp turns on when the appliance operates. • The symbol shows whether the knob controls the oven functions or the temperature. • The indicator turns on when the oven heats up. 5.3 Oven functions 1. Turn the knob for the oven functions to select an oven function. 2. Turn the knob for the temperature to select a temperature. 3. To deactivate the appliance, turn the knobs for the oven functions and temperature to the off position. Oven function Off position Application The appliance is off. Fast Heat Up To decrease the heat-up time. True Fan Cooking True Fan Cooking PLUS Pizza Setting Conventional Cooking (Top / Bottom Heat) Bottom Heat To bake on up to three shelf positions at the same time and to dry food. Set the temperature 20 - 40 °C lower than for Top / Bottom Heat. To add humidity during the cooking. To get the right colour and crispy crust during baking. To give more juiciness during reheating. To bake food on one shelf position for a more intensive browning and a crispy bottom. Set the temperature 20 - 40 °C lower than for Top / Bottom Heat. To bake and roast food on one shelf position. To bake cakes with crispy bottom and to preserve food. Defrost This function can be used for defrosting frozen foods, such as vegetables and fruits. The defrosting time depends on the amount and size of the frozen food.
