43 3. Attach one side of the fan/heatsink metal bracket to the CPU socket and then gently push the other side of the metal bracket down until it locks in place. 4. Connect the 3-pin and 2-pin fan/thermal sensor cables to the system board. Refer to section "System board layout" on page 20 for the location of the fan/ thermal sensor connectors. Caution: The heatsink becomes very hot when the system is on. NEVER touch the heatsink with any metal or with your hands. Removing a CPU Follow these steps to remove a CPU: 1. Disconnect the 3-pin and 2-pin fan/thermal sensor cables from the system board. 2. Unhook one side of the fan/heatsink metal bracket and gently lift it before removing the other side. 3. Gently push the socket lever down to release the lever and then pull it up. 4. Remove the CPU.

gently push the other side of the metal bracket down until it locks in place.

Connect the 3-pin and 2-pin fan/thermal sensor cables to the system board.
Refer to section “System board layout” on page 20 for the location of the fan/
thermal sensor connectors.
Caution:
The heatsink becomes very hot when the system is on.
NEVER
touch the heatsink with any metal or with your hands.
Removing a CPU
Follow these steps to remove a CPU:
1.
Disconnect the 3-pin and 2-pin fan/thermal sensor cables from the system
board.
2.
Unhook one side of the fan/heatsink metal bracket and gently lift it before
removing the other side.
3.
Gently push the socket lever down to release the lever and then pull it up.
4.
Remove the CPU.
