Alphabet Search Function (Tag search mode iPod/iPhone (optional) only) Quickly find an artist, album, etc. by the first letter in its title or name. 1 During Tag search mode, press  or  to activate Alphabet Search function. 2 Turn the Rotary encoder or press  or  to select the desired initial letter (e.g. select "M"), and then press ENTER. A list which begins with the selected initial letter is searched. 3 Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired item (which begins with initial letter "M"), and then press ENTER. The item is selected. Notes • The Alphabet Search Function is only applicable to English alphabetic characters. • Characters not readable by the head unit cannot be searched. • If the Song search mode is activated in Playlist search, this function is invalid. Quick Search You can search for a song from all songs in current bank of Flash Memory without selecting an album, artist, etc. 1 Press and hold ENTER for at least 2 seconds to activate Quick Search mode. 2 Turn the Rotary encoder to select a desired track (file). The selected track is played back immediately. Note • Press  in the search mode to cancel. Or, the search mode is canceled if no operation is performed for 10 seconds.  Rotary encoder//ENTER   SOURCE/ VIEW 45 Preset buttons 6 (1 through 6) Connecting an iPod/iPhone An iPod/iPhone can be connected to this unit by using the Interface cable for iPod (included with iPod/iPhone). When an iPod/iPhone is connected to this unit, you can choose to control the iPod/iPhone using its own controls or by the head unit controls. For details, refer to "Setting the iPod Control" on page 31. Using these functions will stop or pause the currently playing songs. During this time, do not operate the unit to avoid a malfunction. • If you connect an iPhone to this unit, it can be used as an iPod.
