Wireless LAN terms and concepts There are two types of Wireless networks: Infrastructure mode and Ad-hoc Infrastructure Mode Infrastructure mode networks have a central Access point/Base station at the heart of the network. The Access point/Base station can also act as a bridge or a gateway to a wired network. Infrastructure Mode
Infrastructure mode networks have a central Access point/Base
