Hardware Problems Table 2-6: Memory Problems Problem Out of memory. Possible Cause Memory configuration may not be set up correctly or you have run out of memory to run the application. Memory count error. Memory modules may not be installed correctly. Server fails to recognize existing memory. Server fails to recognize the complete amount of memory. Possible Solution 1. Check the application documentation to determine the memory configuration requirements. 2. Check for operating system errors. 3. Check the memory count during Power-On Self-Test (POST) messages. If the memory count is wrong, complete the steps shown for a memory count error. 1. Be sure that the memory modules have been installed correctly. Refer to your server-specific user documentation. 2. Be sure that the memory modules are properly seated. 3. Check the error information for your operating system. 4. Restart the server. If the POST count is still wrong, replace the memory. 1.
