Access the System Remotely You can configure the system to be accessed remotely by Telnet. The Z-Series has a dedicated management port and a management routing table that is separate from the IP routing table. Step Task 1 Configure an IP address for the management port. 2 Configure a management route with a default gateway. 3 Configure a username and password. Configure the Management Port IP Address Assign IP addresses to the management ports in order to access the system remotely. NOTE: Assign different IP addresses to each RPM's management port. Step Task Command Syntax 1 Enter INTERFACE interface ManagementEthernet mode for the slot/port Management port. 2 Assign an IP address ip address ip-address/mask to the interface. 3 Enable the interface. no shutdown Command Mode CONFIGURATION INTERFACE INTERFACE Configure a Management Route Define a path from the system to the network from which you are accessing the system remotely.
