A simple visual inspection of a computer³s interior hardware can often lead to
the source of a problem, such as a loose expansion card, cable connector, or
mounting screw. When you perform the visual inspection, refer to ±System
Features² in Chapter 1 to locate components in the inspection procedure.
To perform the internal visual inspection, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the AC power cable from its power source.

2.
Open the computer³s right and left panel doors as described in ±Accessing
the Interior of the System² in Chapter 1.
3.
Verify that the chips, DIMMs, expansion cards, and single-edge contact
(SEC) cartridge and heat sink assemblies are fully seated in their sockets
or connectors.

To reseat SEC cartridge and heat sink assemblies, remove and reinstall
them as described in ±SEC Cartridge and Heat Sink Assembly² in
Chapter 4.
