9 Removing the heat sink NOTE: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer and follow the steps in Before working inside your computer. Allow sufficient time for the heat sink to cool before you touch it. CAUTION: For maximum cooling of the processor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the heat sink. The oils in your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal grease. Prerequisites Remove the base cover. Procedure 1. Peel the tape that secures the heat-sink shield to the system board. NOTE: The tape on the heat-sink shield is necessary to reduce the noise for the system. The tape can be reused and has to be adhered when the heat-sink shield is installed. 2. Using a plastic scribe, release the heat-sink shield from the slots on the system board. 3. Lift the heat-sink shield off the system board. 4. In reverse sequential order (as indicated on the heat sink), remove the four screws (M2x3) that secure the heat sink to the system board. 5. Remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the heat sink to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 6. Lift the heat sink off the system board. Removing the heat sink 21

Prerequisites

Procedure
1.
