21 Removing the power button with fingerprint reader NOTE: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer and follow the steps in Before working inside your computer. After working inside your computer, follow the instructions in After working inside your computer. For more safety best practices, see the Regulatory Compliance home page at www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance. NOTE: Applicable only for computers that are shipped with fingerprint reader. Prerequisites 1. Remove the base cover. 2. Remove the I/O-board interposers. 3. Remove the battery. 4. Remove the I/O board. Procedure NOTE: Step 1, 2, and 4 are applicable only for the computers that are shipped with fingerprint reader. 1. Open the latch and disconnect the fingerprint-reader cable from the system board and peel the fingerprint-reader cable from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 2. Peel the tape that secures the power button cable to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 3. Remove the screw (M2x1.7) that secures the power button to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 4. Remove the screw (M1.6x1.8) that secures the fingerprint-reader to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 5. Peel and lift the power button and fingerprint reader (optional), along with its cable, off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. 38 Removing the power button with fingerprint reader
