Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-8). 5. Remove the SIM (see "SIM" on page 4-9). Remove the hard drive: 1. Loosen the six Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws that secure the hard drive cover to the computer. 2. Lift the rear edge of the hard drive cover until it rests at an angle, and then remove the hard drive cover. Removal and replacement procedures
Hard drive
The hard drive spare part kit includes a hard drive bracket, hard drive isolator, and hard drive connector cable.
Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-8
).
5. Remove the SIM (see
“SIM” on page 4-9
).
Remove the hard drive:
1. Loosen the six Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws
that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.
2. Lift the rear edge of the hard drive cover
until it rests at an angle, and then remove the hard drive cover.
The hard drive cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part number 501499-001.
