Utility Partition Manager The Utility Partition Manager is a compact stand-alone utility distributed on the support web. It is for use on a single PC at a time, but can be useful at an early stage when deploying your PCs and also in creating your software Gold Image. It is intended for use by IT/MIS personnel. The UPM can configure two items: • The Welcome Message can be shown or hidden (but not changed). If the message is hidden, the text is replaced by 'marching dots' to indicate PC activity. • The Time-out value, used for the Welcome message or marching dots, can be set between 3 and 10 seconds. Utility Partition Startup The Utility Partition startup parameters, including the text of the Welcome Message in two strings, are stored in the Utility Partition configuration file HiPaConf.INI (see "Default Settings for INI files" on page 12). 38
