Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34), and then remove the following components: a. Service cover (see WLAN module on page 35) b. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 38) c. Base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 45) d. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 47) e. Fan (see Fan on page 55) f. System board (see System board on page 56) Remove the heat sink: 1. Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:

Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Following the 1 through 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.0×11.0
captive screws
