TouchPad button board, Remove the Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screw

Remove the fingerprint reader board: 1. Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Detach the fingerprint reader board cable from the top cover. (The fingerprint reader board cable is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.) 3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screw (2) that secures the fingerprint reader board bracket to the top cover. 4. Slide the fingerprint reader board bracket (3) up and away from the top cover. 5. Remove the fingerprint reader board (4) and cable. Reverse this procedure to install the fingerprint reader board. TouchPad button board Description TouchPad button board (includes cable and bracket) Spare part number 681987-001 Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 47), and then remove the following components: a. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 48) b. Remove the fingerprint reader board:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Detach the fingerprint reader board cable from the top cover. (The fingerprint reader board cable
is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.)
3.
Remove the Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screw
(2)
that secures the fingerprint reader board bracket to
the top cover.
4.
Slide the fingerprint reader board bracket
(3)
up and away from the top cover.
5.
Remove the fingerprint reader board
(4)
and cable.
Reverse this procedure to install the fingerprint reader board.

Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

), and then remove the following components:

)
b.
Optical drive (see
