Power (continued) Symptom Computer displays the wrong date and time. Possible solution The real-time clock (RTC) battery may need to be replaced. Battery life is approximately seven years. Before replacing the battery, try resetting the date and time in Windows Vista. 1 Click the Windows Vista start button, click Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2 Click Clock, Language, and Region, and then click Date and Time. If you are viewing the Control Panel in Classic view, just click Date and Time in the Control Panel menu. 3 Click the Date and Time tab, and then click Change Date and Time. If you are prompted to enter an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 4 In the Date and Time settings: Set the hour, minute, and seconds by highlighting the number you want to change and typing in the desired time. You may also use the arrows to increase or decrease the hours, minutes, or seconds. Set the date by using the arrows to choose the month and year, and then click on the day of the month in the calendar. 5 Click OK. Alternatively, you can click on the clock in the system tray on your desktop to bring up the Change Date and Time interface.
