Figure 2-2 Charge roller 1 Balancing roller 2 Charge roller The charge roller is removable and serviceable. The CE needs to identify the charge roller and the balancing roller. Unit operation The charge roller assembly is based on two rollers: ● Charge roller - Charges the balancing roller. The charge roller is a metal core covered with molded polyurethane. When it is engaged, the charge roller lies on the PIP drum, and rotates by friction. There is no additional drive. When it is disengaged, the charge roller and the balancing roller do not touch each other. ● Balancing roller - Balances the current on the charge roller, which prevents the deterioration of roller properties. The charge roller requires the following calibrations: ● Charge roller voltage calibration (a.k.a. auto bias calibration) ● Charge roller seam area calibration (a.k.a. charge roller leveling) For more information, see Calibrations on page 19. The charge roller is removable and serviceable.
The CE needs to identify the charge roller and the balancing roller.
Unit operation
The charge roller assembly is based on two rollers:
Charge roller – Charges the balancing roller. The charge roller is a metal core covered with molded
polyurethane. When it is engaged, the charge roller lies on the PIP drum, and rotates by friction. There is
no additional drive. When it is disengaged, the charge roller and the balancing roller do not touch each
other.
Balancing roller – Balances the current on the charge roller, which prevents the deterioration of roller
properties.
The charge roller requires the following calibrations:
Charge roller voltage calibration (a.k.a. auto bias calibration)
Charge roller seam area calibration (a.k.a. charge roller leveling)
