Chapter 3 Rack-Mounting the HP NetServer Preparing the Rack The column adapters and cage nuts must be connected to the rack before mounting the slide mechanism. Once the slides are correctly mounted, then the HP NetServer LC 2000r can be installing into the rack. HP NetServer Rack Mount Parts List Ensure the rack-mounting kit provided with the HP NetServer and the non-HP rack mount kit contain the following parts. Table 2-1. Parts for Rack Mount Kit Quantity Description 2 Slides 4 Washers 6 M6x16 Cage Nuts 8 Cage Nut Screws (M5 x 16mm) 6 Screws for Slides (8-32 x ¼ inch, 4 panhead and 2 flathead) 2 Column Adapters Marking the Rack and Attaching Cage Nuts Use this section to mark the front columns and attach the cage nuts to the rear columns of the Compaq 4000- or 7000-series rack. The column adapters attach to the front columns and the slides are attached to the column adapters and the cage nuts to hold the NetServer's slides in place. Use the marking pen to mark the locations on the columns. CAUTION If other rack components are to be mounted in the rack below the HP NetServer, install those components before starting to mount the NetServer. NOTE Use the HP Rack Configuration Tools to determine where in the rack to mount the HP NetServer. The tools are available at: http: //www.hp.com/netserver/support 13
