Part 4: Installing Microsoft Windows NT and Configuring the LAN Adapters After you have configured the HP NetRAID Adapter, you are ready to install Microsoft Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition. Prior to Windows NT installation, use the HP EISA Configuration Utility to configure the hardware for use with the network operating system. NOTE Ensure that your HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM is designated "version G.00.85", or later before continuing with the HP EISA Configuration Utility. If your Navigator CD-ROM is out-of-date, you must upgrade it before proceeding. Configuring Your Systems for Windows NT Installation To configure the hardware using the HP EISA Configuration Utility, at both Systems A and B: 1. Insert the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM in the CD-ROM and restart the HP NetServer. The HP NetServer boots from the Navigator CD-RO. If Navigator does not come up in its main menu, choose Back to get to the main menu. 2. From the Navigator Main menu, choose NetServer Utilities, then EISA Configuration Utility. 3. In the EISA Configuration Utility, disable the Embedded IDE Hard Disk Controller. (The embedded IDE controller is not used on HP NetServer systems.) 4. Save and exit the EISA Configuration Utility. The Utility saves your configuration data, restarts the HP NetServer and reloads the HP Navigator CD-ROM. 5. Go back to the HP Navigator Main menu, then choose Configuration Assistant, then select Custom, then Microsoft. Select MS Windows NT 4.0 as your NOS. 6. After viewing the configuration advisories, continue and Choose Install/Update Utility Partition. Configuration Assistant creates the Utility Partition, and copies over the appropriate files. Leave the Navigator CD in the drive. When finished, the system re-boots. After re-booting, the system displays the Custom Configuration menu. 7. Go back to the Navigator Main menu, then choose NetServer Utilities, then Diagnostic Assistant. Navigator displays the Diagnostic Assistant Main menu. 8. From the Diagnostic Assistant Main menu, choose Quick Tests. Diagnostic Assistant runs a sequence of tests to determine if hardware is performing properly. NOTE Because your HP NetServers are not yet joined to the cluster, this is a good time to run all the tests including the SCSI Device Tests. Disregard any cautionary notes that discourage testing at this point. After you have configured both Systems A and B you are ready to proceed to "Installing Microsoft Windows NT." After you have configured the HP NetRAID Adapter, you are ready to install Microsoft Windows NT Server,
Enterprise Edition. Prior to Windows NT installation, use the HP EISA Configuration Utility to configure the

NOTE
Ensure that your
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM
is designated "version G.00.85", or later before continuing

Navigator CD-ROM
