Part 5: Installing HP NetRAID Software and Configuring the Disk Arrays After Windows NT has been installed and configured for cluster operations and you have upgraded the operating system with Service Pack 3, you need perform the following tasks to prepare Systems A and B for the Microsoft Cluster Server software: • Install the NT NetRAID driver • Install NetRAID Assistant software • Connect the shared storage • Configure the disk arrays. Installing the NT NetRAID Driver To install the driver for the HP NetRAID adapter: 1. From the Start menu select Settings | Control Panel | SCSI Adapters | Drivers | Add | Have Disk. Insert the disk you created earlier labeled "NetRAID Firmware and Driver" in the floppy drive and click OK. After the driver is installed, remove the disk and restart the computer to load the driver. Installing NetRAID Assistant To install the NetRAID Assistant software that will manage the cluster's disk arrays: 1. Using the HP NetRAID Utility diskettes you have already created, insert the disk labeled "NetRAID Assistant 1" in the floppy drive and run A:\SETUP.EXE. 2. During NetRAID Assistant Setup, you will see two options: 1. Manage NetRAID adapters 2. Manage NetRAID adapters in NT and Netware Servers Choose option one. Do not choose the option that includes Netware servers. After you have installed the NetRAID software on both systems, you are ready to proceed to "Connecting the Cluster's Shared Storage." After Windows NT has been installed and configured for cluster operations and you have upgraded the operating
system with Service Pack 3, you need perform the following tasks to prepare Systems A and B for the Microsoft
Cluster Server software:
Install the NT NetRAID driver
Install NetRAID Assistant software
Connect the shared storage
Configure the disk arrays.
Installing the NT NetRAID Driver
To install the driver for the HP NetRAID adapter:
1.
From the Start menu select Settings | Control Panel | SCSI Adapters | Drivers | Add | Have Disk.
Insert the
disk you created earlier labeled "NetRAID Firmware and Driver" in the floppy drive and click OK.
After
the driver is installed, remove the disk and restart the computer to load the driver.
Installing NetRAID Assistant
To install the NetRAID Assistant software that will manage the cluster’s disk arrays:
1.
Using the HP NetRAID Utility diskettes you have already created, insert the disk labeled "NetRAID
Assistant 1" in the floppy drive and run A:\SETUP.EXE.
2.
During NetRAID Assistant Setup, you will see two options:
1. Manage NetRAID adapters
2. Manage NetRAID adapters in NT and Netware Servers
Choose option one. Do
not
choose the option that includes Netware servers.
After you have installed the NetRAID software on both systems, you are ready to proceed to "Connecting the
Cluster’s Shared Storage."
