Chapter 3 Procedure for Connecting and Routing Cables to the LT 6000r Connecting the PDU 120 VAC Configuration The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) plugs into the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) if one is present. The 120 volt PDU uses an E7802A detachable cord with a NEMA 5-20P connector for connections to the receptacles on the right-hand side (viewed from the rear) of the UPS. It connects to the PDU through a C19 connector. CAUTION It is not possible to plug one 16-amp, 120 VAC PDU into another. This type of PDU must be plugged directly into a UPS or site AC power circuit. Attempting to plug one of these units into another could result in electrical failure or damage to the equipment. Alternate 120 VAC Power Configurations When the 120 VAC PDU is used without a UPS in the rack, the PDU needs one branch circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle. If neither a UPS nor a PDU are used in the 120 VAC case, plug the components directly into NEMA 5-15 receptacles using the line cords supplied. If you use a wall socket directly without a UPS or PDU, be sure to check power requirements against the amperage rating of your electrical system. See the section entitled "Site Preparation: Circuit Breakers." If your electrical system has the capacity to power the components, plug the HP NetServer LT 6000r and mass data storage units into NEMA 5-15 receptacles using the 90 inch (approximately 230 cm) power cords supplied. Connecting the PDU 120 VAC Configuration
The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) plugs into the Uninterruptible Power Supply
(UPS) if one is present. The 120 volt PDU uses an E7802A detachable cord with a
NEMA 5-20P connector for connections to the receptacles on the right-hand side
(viewed from the rear) of the UPS. It connects to the PDU through a C19
connector.
CAUTION
It is not possible to plug one 16-amp, 120 VAC PDU into
another. This type of PDU must be plugged directly into a
UPS or site AC power circuit. Attempting to plug one of these
units into another could result in electrical failure or damage
to the equipment.
Alternate 120 VAC Power Configurations
When the 120 VAC PDU is used without a UPS in the rack, the PDU needs one
branch circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle.
If neither a UPS nor a PDU are used in the 120 VAC case, plug the components
directly into NEMA 5-15 receptacles using the line cords supplied.
If you use a wall socket directly without a UPS or PDU, be sure to check power
requirements against the amperage rating of your electrical system. See the section
entitled “Site Preparation: Circuit Breakers.” If your electrical system has the
capacity to power the components, plug the HP NetServer LT 6000r and mass
data storage units into NEMA 5-15 receptacles using the 90 inch (approximately
230 cm) power cords supplied.
